conference semifinals of the most wonderful time of the year
i refer you to this for confirmation that i actually did this...
WESTERN CONFERENCE
detroit v. edmonton
dallas v. colorado
calgary v. anaheim
nashville v. san jose
my picks: edmonton, colorado, calgary, san jose. THREE OUT OF FOUR!
EASTERN CONFERENCE
ottawa v. tampa
carolina v. montreal
new jersey v. ny rangers
buffalo v. philadelphia
my picks: ottawa, carolina, new jersey, buffalo FOUR OUT OF FOUR!!
i don't believe i have EVER picked 7 of 8 or done that well on ANY pool. of course i put no money on this. dammit! could The Curse be no more????
The Curse refers to the fact that whomever or whatever i root for or vote for, they lose. restaurants we like close. hell, we get season NHL tickets, and the league has a lockout! alas, there's no 'reverse psychology' at work, so i couldn't root for, say, detroit in the hopes they would lose...The Curse seems to know when i'm trying to play it. and it appears detroit didn't need my help to lose ANYWAY, eh
odinkar? *wink*
of course, given last week's election, one could argue that maybe The Curse is still intact, and just lulling me into a false sense of security, hoping i'll bet the house on the conference semifinals.
HA! i am smarter than any silly ol' Curse. and i am too poor to bet anything anyway.
so, mypredictions wishes are:
Western Conference
San Jose v. Edmonton
Anaheim v. Colorado
go colorado and edmonton (sorry
kelliem)
Eastern Conference
Ottawa v. Buffalo
Carolina v. New Jersey
go ottawa and carolina. i know, carolina violates the rules (see first link above) but i've gone to see them several times since they play in basically my sister's back yard. it's almost like a home team.

i have to say, though, i'm not a huge fan of cheechoo...he's kinda a goon to my blue jackets. so if they lose i'm that much happier :)

although really, even AFTER seeing that hit n!+n! times....it looks to me like the neck break was the avalanche guy who came to tackle both of them. i've seen worse hits that just weren't as unlucky...
besides, it's not like it was off the ice and a car accident or something ::koff::heatley::koff:: :D

Although I'll be rooting for Anaheim now because 1) Colorado SUCKS. ;)
and 2) (and more importantly) Chris Kunitz is on their starting line-up, and he graduated from my alma mater, so he's the only professional sports star out there from Ferris. We used to have a football player, but he didn't do too well, and I believe he's now playing in the Arena Football League.

(i loves me the trash talk)
although anaheim wouldn't be too bad either. it's got several blue jacket alums due to the federov trade. it'd be nice to see marchant win the cup, since the deal was a bit shady....
